Tata Nexon: India’s third largest selling car in 2017

Tata Motors, the home-grown automaker garnered huge sale numbers since the launch of the sub-compact SUV, Tata Nexon in September this year. The company has managed to establish itself as the third largest manufacturer in the country by outselling the Used Cars of Mahindra and Mahindra.

The major reason behind the huge success of the company is the positive response to the latest launch, Tata Nexon. Within just two months of its launch, the 10,000th unit of the compact SUV was been rolled out from the company’s Ranjangaon plant in Pune. The sales of the Tata Motors has seen a rapid growth of 35 percent in the month of November compared to that of the last year.

Tata Nexon has been the most popular compact SUV, ever since its launch and the company looks to continue its effort to meet the growing demand. If you are also planning to get your hands on the all-new Nexon, here is everything that you need to know before finalizing your purchase.

Exterior design

The Tata Nexon is built on the company’s new Impact design philosophy, which provides it a contemporary look along with several styling elements. It is one of the best-looking compact SUVs in the country with an aggressive front fascia. It gets a honeycomb grille, projector headlights and integrated D-cut LED DRLs.

The proportionate side profile of the car along with several styling bits is what amazes the most. It sports 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with pronounced wheel arches. Moreover, the coupe-like roof gives it an edgy look.

The rear end of the SUV gets a unique design, which sets it apart from its rivals. It gets a rear bumper, spoiler, LED lights and a shark-fin antenna. The sloping roofline meets the rear spoiler to provide it an appealing look, and it largely depicts the rear of a crossover.

Interior delight

The cabin of the car appears more premium than some of the higher priced cars in the segment. It is finely finished with quality material and the plastic cladding of the dashboard is superior. In terms of spaciousness, the car provides comfortable knee-room and legroom for the five occupants.

The car is available in four variants – XE, XM, XT and XZ. The 6.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system is limited to the top-end XZ trim, while the Harman sourced Connect Next infotainment system is standard for the XM and XT trims. The infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto and voice over command for climate control. In terms of safety, the car receives reverse parking sensors, airbags and ABS with EBD.

Power mechanism

Tata Nexon is offered in both petrol and diesel guise. The gasoline version is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged engine that manages to churn out a maximum power output of 108 bhp at 5,000 revolutions per minute against a peak torque of 170 Nm between 2,000 to 4,000 revolutions per minute. On the other hand, the oil burner derives its power from an all-new 1.5-litre Revotorq unit that develops a maximum power output of 108 bhp at 3,750 revolutions per minute and a peak torque of 260 Nm between 1,500-2,750 revolutions per minute. The produced power is transmitted to the front wheels of the car by a six-speed manual gearbox. The car comes with three drive modes – Eco, City and Sport.

The Tata Nexon is the most aspired compact SUV right now in the country, not only for its some first-in-class features but also for its competitive pricing. The price of the car starts at Rs. 5.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base variant and goes up to Rs. 9.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-end trims.
